When I asked if I could simply close my account and pick up the cash where I could present my ID, he simply told me they'd hold onto the money indefinitely until I sent them my driver's license. He finally, after talking in circles, admitted that it was Xoom that had different policies on ID verification and had nothing to do with Paypal's policies or my bank's. They already had not only my driver's license but other photo ID's. I called back and I was eventually connected with a supervisor named James who told me that I needed to call my back to find out why my identity needed to be verified. So I asked for a supervisor, and the gentleman hung up on me. I could look at Xoom's logo and see it claimed to be a Paypal company. ![]() When I asked why Xoom needed a copy of my license when Paypal had it on file, he told me they were not a part of Paypal. I had a friend whose identity had been stolen when he sent his photo ID that way. He wanted me to send a photo of my driver's license on an unsecured e-mail, something I was uncomfortable doing. I called the helpline again and talked to a gentleman who told me that the transfer had been put on hold because they needed to verify my identity, something that Paypal had done when I joined years ago. But when I checked my bank account an hour later, nothing had been transferred. I did so, and the site said the transfer was successful. This meant I would have to fill out the information again. She checked on the status and came back to tell me everything was fine and I just needed to try the transfer again. I called the help center and the operator said they needed to verify the information.
