![]() I'll stretch again! "skill to master", for some! I have seen guys put large globs on both the tubing and the fitting and I cringe! "I don't want a leak, more is better!" The same theory with pipe dope! And beer! We'll leave it at two out of three, more beer more leaks (ha ha) those leaks ya don't mind as much!!! Seriously though,in 33+ years, (and I been around and I think awake the whole time!), I have never repaired a solder joint that failed from "globs of flux". It would seem to me that by applying a thin layer of the flux on the tubing, there shouldn't be any globs inside of the joint. My understanding was that the corrosion that develops on the outside was the reason. ![]() You learn something new everyday I guess. ![]() Repair your leaking Plumbing fixtures ASAP [ This slow drip will waste 7+ gallons of water per day. "The society which scorns excellence in Plumbing as a humble activity and tolerates shoddiness in philosophy because it is anĮxalted activity will have neither good Plumbing nor good philosophy: neither its pipes nor its theories will hold water.". Although water soluble flux is required by many codes, I believe that most people don't use it, soldering with it is not difficult but it's nothing like regular good old flux, but I don't think your old flux is the problem as long as the container was sealed tight.Īs for a seeing a formed 'bead' of solder, that's not always the case - as long as the solder is pulled into the joint, that's the most important part of it, and of course proper preparation and heating is key.
